Believe Children’s Boutique

Stabilization Grant, Spring 2017

Nestled deep in South Philly, just north of Moyamensing Avenue is Believe Children’s Boutique, A woman-owned business that anchors the corridor down.  There’s not much else around her, which is impressive as her sales volume is high. It is a children’s retail clothing store and eCommerce business. The owner had twelve years experience in retail with another company and brings all the good practices she garnered with her to Believe.  She has a tidy, fun website that captures a lot of traffic. She is also optimizing with Shoptique, an aggregate service for eCommerce retailers. Her Philadelphia following is loyal, especially since she’s positioned in a neighborhood to where a lot of new parents are filtering.

Believe Children’s Boutique was referred to The Merchants Fund by the manager of East Passyunk Avenue BID and approved for a $10,000 Stabilization Grant in the spring of 2017.  She had just gone through the holidays and with a then depleted inventory was looking to stock up on Spring/Summer inventory. Helping her purchase more inventory allowed her to purchase a large stock of inventory at once, increasing her overall purchasing power.  She also was able to then save her income over the next period as inventory wouldn’t need to be purchased as much.
