Mt Airy Violins & Bows
Stabilization Grant, Spring 2016
Located in Mt. Airy and lodged firmly on Germantown Avenue, Mt. Airy Violins and Bows offers an array of services from restoration and repair to renting and rehairing, not to mention their custom crafted bows and string instruments. It’s a woman-owned company that also has a small space for concerts.
Mt. Airy Violins & Bows was in need of an upgraded HVAC. The window units were inadequate and when turned on, it was very loud. Whenever an instrument was tested or a concert was happening the window units had to be turned off. Not to mention, HVAC systems are very important in their line of work. If the stores units go, humidity can set in and the delicate wood can warp and damage the instruments. The goal was to upgrade all the primary rooms at the time of the grant and work on the remaining rooms over time.
TMF awarded Mt. Airy Violins & Bows a Stabilization Grant in the Spring of 2016. The funds were used for the first round of HVAC upgrades. This project will not only save them money but also make for a better musical environment and better preserve the instruments.
