Overview: Vientiane Café is a small family run business established in 2002. Chef Daovy Phanthavong, along with her husband Phoxay Sidara and their two daughters Manorack and Sunny Phanthavong have been serving the community over 12 years. TMF supported Vientiane Bistro with a $10,000 grant to help pay debts, service equipment, and fund continuing operations.
Impact: Originally we knew that this grant will help us get through our struggles with inflation and supply chain. We were very hopeful that this grant can help us get out of debt from the pandemic.
We were very grateful to finally pay ourselves and it impacted our family’s quality of life. This grant gave us hope that we can stay open for business.” – Kong Tieu; Owner

Both businesses have unfortunately been victims of vandalism and recently had their vehicles stolen in the summer of 2023. One was a refrigerated truck, which has been especially difficult for `Marco`s Fish` as their fish is fresh each day and requires transit to the restaurant. Now, without the truck, Marcos and Alma`s business is at stake. Nacho also cannot make required pickups for his restaurant`s ingredients.”
